Simple Pleasures

📚 I have always been a reader. Have always loved books. They were, and still are, my escape.

📔 I could tell I was reaching my limit … and just in the nick of time I found a good book to read for simple pleasure.

🌤 It’s a beautiful day, the book is awesome … and I can’t begin to explain how good it feels to steal a few minutes to relax & not think … how physically, emotionally and mentally, GOOD!

What do YOU do for selfcare?

How God Made a Way

Two months after I took my leave of absence, the group counseling practice where I had been working shut its doors. As upsetting as that was, it didn’t even make it onto the list of my Top 10 Most Pressing Issues at that time. However, as time wore on, the need for me to figure out a way to replace my lost income became increasingly more acute.

41165889_10156598613430350_8529324142367866880_n  I had the privilege of working alongside many wonderful counselors over the years. And, I was offered some amazing opportunities to continue with my counseling practice when I was ready to return. My friends and former colleagues were all very gracious and extremely encouraging. Nevertheless, if truth be told, I had been through so much physically and emotionally over the prior 18 months, I felt I had nothing left to give.

That being said, while I was thoroughly enjoying running my little Etsy business from home, and it was very therapeutic for me, working in a helping profession is what I love, and I missed it. So, what to do?

This is where everything started to come together!

img_2747  img_2571  CBD oil was a true miracle for me.  It literally gave me my life back. I don’t know about you, but when great things happen for me, I just have to share them! And from that, a new career was born!

I had been missing from my life for so long, that when I started showing up again, people took notice. They were surprised, and more than just a little curious about what made it possible.  Of course, I was more than happy to elucidate.

Thus, simply by sharing my story, I was getting to help people on a daily basis, and I started generating income. In a relatively short amount of time, my income grew, our team grew, and new and exciting opportunities presented themselves . . .  and seeing TeamMatthewAndLinda in the Top 5 became a regular occurrence.

Though this is primarily a work-from-home position for me, there are so many other ways to grow the business. We have done pop-up-shops, vendor events, and I have even joined a networking group!  I am meeting awesome people, building relationships and having a blast!

Four years ago Jenna “had nothing” (her own words). She & Josh were not yet married. Josh did not ‘give her a spot’ in his company. She started out like every other affiliate and worked her way up to this! We can all dream bigger and work harder! See you at the top!

Welcome to My New Stampin’ Up! Blog!

Edit SU.jpg

Hello and Welcome!

I wanted to share an exciting update with you, in case you have not yet read the “What Am I Doing Now?” section of my website. My new career in network marketing, which started with my husband and I joining MyDailyChoice/HempWorx as Affiliates, has expanded to include my becoming an Independent Demonstrator with Stamping’ Up!.

It was a natural progression, given how much I love network marketing and my creative hobbies. The evolution took place quite organically. It was during a vendor event where my husband and I were selling our CBD products, that I met Kathy and her husband, who were manning a Stampin’ Up! table – right next to us.

She and I hit it off immediately, and long story short, we are now friends and business associates. I am extremely excited about this unexpected blessing; and, I am looking forward to sharing some creative content with you. I hope you enjoy this new addition to the website.

Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time,

My Journey Toward Health & Wealth Part 2

It has been just over four months since I wrote part one of this journey. So much has happened since then. Allow me to briefly pick up where I left off.

The most difficult season.

Despite all the challenges we had encountered during this time, none of us could anticipate the traumatic loss that was to come. That is as much detail as I am able to share, as it is not my story alone. Suffice it to say, given all that came before, I did not have any reserves left, and it broke me. I entered into an emotional, psychological, and spiritual battle of epic proportions.

It took about a year for me to start coming out of the darkness that ensued. I wrestled with God, the world, myself and I slept. A lot.

Finally, slowly, I started to come back to myself. I realized I did not want this to be the legacy of our lost loved ones. I wanted their legacy to be transformative! That is how my Etsy shop, Joy & Grace Inspired, was born. I decided to choose joy and accept grace, and that also happened to be the middle names of the loved ones we had lost. They inspired me to reevaluate my life and adjust accordingly.

Opening the shop got me back to creating. I taught myself how to sew and I stocked the shop. Shortly after the shop opening, I found my miracle!

A friend of mine from grad school had been living with chronic pain since she was a teenager. She needed oral pain meds, as well as morphine patches, to manage her pain. When her daughter sustained an injury that was leading her down the same path, my friend decided to research her options. What she found helped her daughter so dramatically that she started on it herself, eventually weaning off the patches and decreasing her pain meds.

She started posting about it on social media because she wanted everyone to know they have healthy options. That there IS hope. Eventually, my friend signed on with the company, and she has never looked back!

Nine months after her first post, I finally contacted her. She shared all the documentation supporting her claim that these were the highest-quality products in the industry. She shared about the amazing company; and, when I hesitated, due to having been out of work for almost two years at this point, we discussed my becoming an affiliate so I could sell enough that my products would pay for themselves. God had bigger plans!

I purchased my first bottle of HempWorx CBD oil, and signed on as an independent affiliate, on August 6, 2018. My bottle arrived on August 10th, and I had my first serving that night. Now, my husband says it was only a matter of days, three to be exact, before he noticed a difference. Personally, my best recollection is that I started noticing a difference within the first week.

On August 25th, just two-weeks after my first serving, I was able to go to an outdoor concert with my husband! We walked approximately 3/4 of a mile from our car to the venue, sat on rock-hard seats for about two hours, walked the 3/4 of a mile back to our car, and then stood there and cried. But I was not crying from being in pain, nor was he crying from having to watch me suffer from excruciating pain! It was gratitude, shock, relief, joy, happiness . . .  and it was just the beginning of God making a way where there seemed to be no way (Isaiah 43:19).

Why I Share

🗣️ Testimony Tuesday on Wednesday- because yesterday I got to run holiday errands! All. Day! Oh what a difference these past few months have made❣️

👩‍💻 Guys, when I post, I am not pushing a product or a business, I am sharing what has GIVEN ME MY LIFE BACK in more ways than one!

My Mobility ✔️, My Physical & Mental Health ✔️, My Purpose ✔️, My Joy ✔️, My Income ✔️, My Freedom ✔️, I could go on.

👩‍🏫 Most of you know I returned to school as my kids got older. Got my BS & my MA & my career took off. A couple of years in, everything screeched to a halt when a back injury caused me to be home bound/bed bound.

🆓 Due to that disruption of ‘my’ plans, & the introduction to MDC/HW, today, I am free. Free to help people the way my heart desired all along – for free. And, not just through this business & it’s life altering products, but by using what I was created, educated & trained to do as well.

👭🚶‍♂️ And there’s more! Now, when my adult children have free time, I can jump on the opportunity to spend it with them! I can be available to do things FOR them. I have time freedom. I have financial freedom. I have my life back.

👩‍💼 So, for those of you who would like some of this freedom too, I am sharing a brief 10 min video my friend Carrie made explaining our Compensation Plan, which is indisputably the best in the industry (earn up to 85% of your BV. That’s NOT a typo 😊).

👀 Take a look, and you too can be feeling better & making money, just in time for the holidays!

It’s Convention Weekend. I’m not there, but I’m still excited!

Quick Video Update

I am so excited about our company’s convention, going on now! As much as I WISH I was there, God has me right where I need to be this weekend. If I was in Vegas, I would not be able to be here to minister to a family I love dearly over the next few days. I am thankful that my company is offering a live stream so we can try to check in every now and then.

Hope you enjoy the video 🙂

My Journey Toward Health & Wealth Part 1

Where it all started.

During the summer of 2016, I was enjoying my career as a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor in group practice, and embarking on a new career as a therapist in a Christian Children’s Home & Family Ministry. I spent a lot of time with family, I was investing in friendships, and I was serving at my church. Life was good.

On July 25, 2016, I reported for jury duty. I had no idea how significantly this would change my life. As the days wore on, a previous back injury, sustained when we were rear-ended by a young woman texting while driving, became exceedingly aggravated.  Toward the end of the week, I had to wear my TENS Unit to get through each day.

With jury duty behind me, I expected to get back to life as usual. Unfortunately, that was not to be the case. Rather than improving, the pain in my back continued to escalate. Over the next few months, I had to keep cutting my hours until it reached the point that  I was no longer working at all.

Not only was I having to face the fact that I could not work, I was also having to come to grips with the fact that I could not move. Just getting from my bed to the master bathroom was a monumental undertaking. If I happened to make it from the bed, down to the sofa – which often required crawling – there I would remain until it was time to go back up to bed.

Leaving the house to go to numerous doctor’s appointments for examinations, tests, and [ineffective] procedures, required a wheelchair. Other than those appointments, I was home-bound. Bed-bound. I was absent from my life.

Finally, spine surgery was scheduled for January, 2017. As frightening as it was to think of surgeons operating on my back and spine, I was anxious for relief. I could not wait for the day to come when I could walk again. I could not wait to be off pain medication. I could not wait to rejoin my life.

Once again, things did not go the way I expected. Yes, eventually, over time, I was able to stand up a little straighter than a question mark. I could walk, gingerly. I could stand, briefly. I could sit, sparingly. But there was still pain. There was also new pain and different sensations, or the loss thereof. And, there was the fibromyalgia flare.

I have struggled with fibromyalgia, and all that comes with it, for as long as I can remember. It was not until after my back surgery, and the fourth and fifth specialists giving the same diagnosis, that I finally accepted that fibromyalgia & chronic fatigue were real, and I had them. Not only that, but the surgery threw me into a flare that had become my new normal.

My new normal still required strong pain medication. It demanded hours and hours of sleep. So much sleep, that I slept through our 25th wedding anniversary. Literally, the entire day and night. Additionally, it prolonged the seemingly endless isolation. The loneliness, pain, exhaustion, and medication, were ushering me into a dark place. What I did not yet know, was this was just the beginning of one of the most difficult seasons in my life, and the lives of my loved ones.
