How God Made a Way

Two months after I took my leave of absence, the group counseling practice where I had been working shut its doors. As upsetting as that was, it didn’t even make it onto the list of my Top 10 Most Pressing Issues at that time. However, as time wore on, the need for me to figure out a way to replace my lost income became increasingly more acute.

41165889_10156598613430350_8529324142367866880_n  I had the privilege of working alongside many wonderful counselors over the years. And, I was offered some amazing opportunities to continue with my counseling practice when I was ready to return. My friends and former colleagues were all very gracious and extremely encouraging. Nevertheless, if truth be told, I had been through so much physically and emotionally over the prior 18 months, I felt I had nothing left to give.

That being said, while I was thoroughly enjoying running my little Etsy business from home, and it was very therapeutic for me, working in a helping profession is what I love, and I missed it. So, what to do?

This is where everything started to come together!

img_2747  img_2571  CBD oil was a true miracle for me.  It literally gave me my life back. I don’t know about you, but when great things happen for me, I just have to share them! And from that, a new career was born!

I had been missing from my life for so long, that when I started showing up again, people took notice. They were surprised, and more than just a little curious about what made it possible.  Of course, I was more than happy to elucidate.

Thus, simply by sharing my story, I was getting to help people on a daily basis, and I started generating income. In a relatively short amount of time, my income grew, our team grew, and new and exciting opportunities presented themselves . . .  and seeing TeamMatthewAndLinda in the Top 5 became a regular occurrence.

Though this is primarily a work-from-home position for me, there are so many other ways to grow the business. We have done pop-up-shops, vendor events, and I have even joined a networking group!  I am meeting awesome people, building relationships and having a blast!

Welcome to My New Stampin’ Up! Blog!

Edit SU.jpg

Hello and Welcome!

I wanted to share an exciting update with you, in case you have not yet read the “What Am I Doing Now?” section of my website. My new career in network marketing, which started with my husband and I joining MyDailyChoice/HempWorx as Affiliates, has expanded to include my becoming an Independent Demonstrator with Stamping’ Up!.

It was a natural progression, given how much I love network marketing and my creative hobbies. The evolution took place quite organically. It was during a vendor event where my husband and I were selling our CBD products, that I met Kathy and her husband, who were manning a Stampin’ Up! table – right next to us.

She and I hit it off immediately, and long story short, we are now friends and business associates. I am extremely excited about this unexpected blessing; and, I am looking forward to sharing some creative content with you. I hope you enjoy this new addition to the website.

Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time,

My Journey Toward Health & Wealth Part 1

Where it all started.

During the summer of 2016, I was enjoying my career as a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor in group practice, and embarking on a new career as a therapist in a Christian Children’s Home & Family Ministry. I spent a lot of time with family, I was investing in friendships, and I was serving at my church. Life was good.

On July 25, 2016, I reported for jury duty. I had no idea how significantly this would change my life. As the days wore on, a previous back injury, sustained when we were rear-ended by a young woman texting while driving, became exceedingly aggravated.  Toward the end of the week, I had to wear my TENS Unit to get through each day.

With jury duty behind me, I expected to get back to life as usual. Unfortunately, that was not to be the case. Rather than improving, the pain in my back continued to escalate. Over the next few months, I had to keep cutting my hours until it reached the point that  I was no longer working at all.

Not only was I having to face the fact that I could not work, I was also having to come to grips with the fact that I could not move. Just getting from my bed to the master bathroom was a monumental undertaking. If I happened to make it from the bed, down to the sofa – which often required crawling – there I would remain until it was time to go back up to bed.

Leaving the house to go to numerous doctor’s appointments for examinations, tests, and [ineffective] procedures, required a wheelchair. Other than those appointments, I was home-bound. Bed-bound. I was absent from my life.

Finally, spine surgery was scheduled for January, 2017. As frightening as it was to think of surgeons operating on my back and spine, I was anxious for relief. I could not wait for the day to come when I could walk again. I could not wait to be off pain medication. I could not wait to rejoin my life.

Once again, things did not go the way I expected. Yes, eventually, over time, I was able to stand up a little straighter than a question mark. I could walk, gingerly. I could stand, briefly. I could sit, sparingly. But there was still pain. There was also new pain and different sensations, or the loss thereof. And, there was the fibromyalgia flare.

I have struggled with fibromyalgia, and all that comes with it, for as long as I can remember. It was not until after my back surgery, and the fourth and fifth specialists giving the same diagnosis, that I finally accepted that fibromyalgia & chronic fatigue were real, and I had them. Not only that, but the surgery threw me into a flare that had become my new normal.

My new normal still required strong pain medication. It demanded hours and hours of sleep. So much sleep, that I slept through our 25th wedding anniversary. Literally, the entire day and night. Additionally, it prolonged the seemingly endless isolation. The loneliness, pain, exhaustion, and medication, were ushering me into a dark place. What I did not yet know, was this was just the beginning of one of the most difficult seasons in my life, and the lives of my loved ones.
