My Journey Toward Health & Wealth Part 2

Click Here To Read Part 1

It has been just over four months since I wrote part one of this journey. So much has happened since then. Allow me to briefly pick up where I left off.

The most difficult season.

Despite all the challenges we had encountered during this time, none of us could anticipate the traumatic loss that was to come. That is as much detail as I am able to share, as it is not my story alone. Suffice it to say, given all that came before, I did not have any reserves left, and it broke me. I entered into an emotional, psychological, and spiritual battle of epic proportions.

It took about a year for me to start coming out of the darkness that ensued. I wrestled with God, the world, myself and I slept. A lot.

Finally, slowly, I started to come back to myself. I realized I did not want this to be the legacy of our lost loved ones. I wanted their legacy to be transformative! That is how my Etsy shop, Joy & Grace Inspired, was born. I decided to choose joy and accept grace, and that also happened to be the middle names of the loved ones we had lost. They inspired me to reevaluate my life and adjust accordingly.

Opening the shop got me back to creating. I taught myself how to sew and I stocked the shop. Shortly after the shop opening, I found my miracle!

A friend of mine from grad school had been living with *long term severe discomfort since she was a teenager. She needed *to ingest things that were supposed to make her feel better, as well as attach things to her skin, to manage her severe discomfort. When her daughter sustained an injury that was leading her down the same path, my friend decided to research her options. What she found helped her daughter so dramatically that she started on it herself, eventually weaning off the *things she was currently trying.

She started posting about it on social media because she wanted everyone to know they have healthy options. That there IS hope. Eventually, my friend signed on with the company, and she has never looked back!

Nine months after her first post, I finally contacted her. She shared all the documentation supporting her claim that these were the highest-quality products in the industry. She shared about the amazing company; and, when I hesitated, due to having been out of work for almost two years at this point, we discussed my becoming an affiliate so I could sell enough that my products would pay for themselves. God had bigger plans!

I purchased my first bottle of HempWorx CBD oil, and signed on as an independent affiliate, on August 6, 2018. My bottle arrived on August 10th, and I had my first serving that night. Now, my husband says it was only a matter of days, three to be exact, before he noticed a difference. Personally, my best recollection is that I started noticing a difference within the first week.

On August 25th, just two-weeks after my first serving, I was able to go to an outdoor concert with my husband! We walked approximately 3/4 of a mile from our car to the venue, sat on rock-hard seats for about two hours, walked the 3/4 of a mile back to our car, and then stood there and cried. But I was not crying from being in *excruciating discomfort, nor was he crying from having to watch me suffer from *excruciating discomfort! It was gratitude, shock, relief, joy, happiness . . .  and it was just the beginning of God making a way where there seemed to be no way (Isaiah 43:19).

God is the Refiner and we are the Silver

Malachi 3:3 says, “He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver.” NIV

Have you ever considered what this might mean for you personally?

There is an essay titled “The Refiner’s Touch,” Author Unknown. In this story, a silversmith explains the process of refining silver: The silversmith holds a piece of silver over the fire to heat it up. The silver must be held in the middle of the fire where the flames are the hottest. This burns away the impurities. The silversmith must sit there, holding the silver, keeping his eyes on it the entire time it is in the flames. If the silver remains in the fire for too long it will be destroyed. The silversmith knows the silver is fully refined when he can see his image reflected in it.

Now, re-read the verse in Malachi. Then, re-read the story, replacing “silversmith” with “God” and “silver” with your name. Wow!

What was your refining fire?

Please feel free to share your stories in the comments section below by clicking on “Leave a Comment,” I would love to hear them.

In a coming blog I will share one of the things God used to refine me.

*Sometimes the refining moments of our lives are too painful to face alone. Even though we know God is always with us, we don’t always feel like we can cry out to Him. At times like these a Christian counselor can be a wonderful resource. If you or someone you know is struggling, please contact me for an appointment or a referral.
